Creating a home | The HA’s role is to create a home-like environment for pupils in the boarding House, similar to a parent. This includes baking, celebrating birthdays, providing snacks, setting standards, and prioritizing pupils’ well-being and happiness. |
Pastoral Care | The HA, along with the HM and house staff, ensures daily pastoral care for pupils, creating a safe and well-cared-for environment. They must be vigilant for signs of unhappiness or issues and communicate concerns with colleagues and external agencies as needed. |
Medical support | The HA is often the first contact for unwell pupils, providing care, dispensing medications, and coordinating with the Health Centre. They may accompany pupils to appointments and handle medical emergencies. |
Cleanliness | The HA ensures cleanliness and tidiness in the boarding House, coordinating with cleaning staff and setting expectations. Routine checks of dorms and common areas are conducted, fostering a culture of respect and hygiene among pupils. |
